Despite 7 states not reporting poll results, the results of the first poll have been released. In the Democratic primary, Minnesota Senator Bennett Solomon leads with the support of 12 states, while Dearborn Mayor Ali Hammoud and Florida Senator Grace Cabral trail with 6 and 4 states, respectively. Hammoud was described by constituents as “charismatic”. Pennsylvania Senator Gideon Helf leads both the Republican primary and the general election. Many of his supporters described him as a confident public speaker who “lines up with the Republican party beliefs without being overly conservative.” In the primary, 18 states support Helf, 3 support Texas Senator Mizuki Brent, and 1 supports Florida Senator Logan Glazier. Citizens supported Brent because of her “rural background” and economic ideas, and both Brent and Glazier were praised for their opening speeches. These primary results would set up a general election between Solomon and Helf.

In a general election with all six candidates, the poll indicates that Helf leads with 184 electoral votes, winning the support of key swing states such as Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Georgia. Helf also received the most votes for the impressiveness of his speech. Cabral comes in second with 58 electoral votes, 55 of those coming from California. She was described as experienced and a strong Democrat. Brent received 34 votes, Hammoud received 13, and Solomon received 12. Glazier, with 0 electoral votes, is not represented in the pie chart. The states not reporting represent 85 electoral votes, but these votes would not be enough to put any candidate ahead of Helf even if they were to receive all 85. An update will be posted when the 7 states report their results.

When asked what issue in the election was most important, environmental protection and healthcare were the most common answers, signaling to candidates that they should focus on these platforms. On the other hand, tax reform and foreign policy were regarded as the least important issues. Constituents also indicated that they did not feel well-informed about the candidates, so candidates should consider being more communicative on social media and other platforms. The next poll results will likely change as the candidates release more of their policies as well as their first campaign ads.
