Shortly after it was reported that Glazier had been abusing his campaign donation money, the media went further into the issue. After hastily announcing that his purchases at Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and other expensive stores were for a family in need, Glazier contradicted his own campaign. The family he donated to was financially unstable, and was in need of medical care. Insead of providing money for them to use towards medical care, Glazier purchased materialistic items for their terminally ill son. While this generous gift is legal, Glazier could have been more responsible about the gift item and what he put his money towards. People who donated to Glazier’s campaign expected their donations to go towards physical benefits on the public body rather than spoils to an individual family out of all of those in need. Billy may have had his wishes fulfilled, but his requests required an unreasonable amount of expense; for instance, Glazier could have purchased a reasonably priced gift for Billy and distributed the rest of his money towards other hard working lower class families.

The goods in the gift included the Louis Vuitton Cabas Voyage Monogram Bag and the Original GG canvas baseball hat with Web. Both items totaled up to $3,190, (discluding the hefty tax that would be applied), according to their websites. These expensive purchases are a slap in the face to the hard working, cash-strapped donors he claims to want to represent in his campaign. Glazier’s eventual wish was to provide for the family with medical care, but instead of readily doing so, he spent the equivalent to almost three months of family health care: (~$1,168 per month), on the gifts dedicated to Billy. Though he intended well, the priorities Glazier now reflects to the public appear impulsive and irresponsible.
