With only 17 states of 29 reporting poll results, voter preferences seem to have shifted dramatically. However, it is unknown whether this outcome is due to low reporting or substantial changes in voter opinion. The addition of swing states such as Georgia, Florida, and Pennsylvania could have major effects on the election outcome. The next Daily Derenberger poll, coming sometime in the next few days, will attempt to provide a clearer picture of where each candidate stands.
Bennett Solomon continues to dominate in the Democratic primary, earning the support of 13 states, while Ali Hammoud trails with 4 states. Grace Cabral did not earn the support of any of the 17 reporting states. Solomon earned support from the states of Virginia and Illinois, which previously supported Hammoud, and Nebraska, which previously supported Cabral.
In the Republican primary, Mizuki Brent has taken the lead with 8 states, Gideon Helf comes in second with 5 states, and Logan Glazier earned the support of 4 states to reenter the poll results after earning no support in the primary during week two. Helf claimed the support of Arkansas from Brent, but Brent was supported by Nevada, Michigan, Nebraska, and Kansas, which voted for Helf in the previous poll. Helf also lost support from three states to Glazier. All non-reporting states supported Helf in the primary in the previous poll.
Led by Brent, Republican candidates dominate in the general election. Brent earned 120 electoral votes, followed by Helf with 44 and Glazier with 38. All of Glazier’s electoral votes came from Texas. Solomon was the only Democrat to earn electoral votes, coming in fourth with 25 votes after losing the state of California to Brent. Similar to the Republican primary, all non-reporting states voted for Helf in the previous general election poll.
Brent’s surge in popularity likely stems from her speech, with over 50% of states reporting that it was the most impressive. Glazier and Solomon were also credited with successful speeches. Brent also had the strongest education, foreign policy, and environmental protection platforms, according to the participating states.
Solomon’s education platform and Glazier’s foreign policy platform were also considered the strongest by 25% of the states. Questions about tax reform and healthcare platforms will be asked in the next poll.
