The Whitman Works inappropriately attacks another news platform

Recently, a “feud” of sorts took place between The Daily Derenberger and The Whitman Works. Naturally, being the professional news source that we are, we strived to prove our validity in a respectful manner after receiving the attack. Eventually, a truce was struck, and members of the Whitman Works requested pictures of two of our editors shaking hands with two other their editors to show our alliance. Expecting their maturity, we believed that the problem had been solved.
However, The Whitman Works had more to say. We had mutually agreed that we would post the photos of our handshake to our social media sites to officially end the issue. While we both delivered, the captions on the pictures speak a different truth. The Whitman Works used destructive words against The Daily Derenberger, showing resentment and not an alliance.
It’s also important to note what The Whitman Works had to say on the matter on their website. The article begins by explaining the origin of the feud, and blew the issue way out of proportion. Then, as if nothing had happened, they describe our promo shoot, saying “After a successful chat and photo shoot, the Whitman Works returned to their media team in order to produce reliable articles.”
Then, their article takes an unexpected apparent turn. They skip over an important detail in the discussion, conveniently not including it. This is the descriptions seen underneath the promo shoot, as seen below. (The picture below was by The Whitman Works.)

Clearly there is a notable difference in the tone between the captions. We were under the impression that this was going to be a friendly and peaceful collaboration and would end our feud. This is what we attempted to do with our post, simply stating “After a weekend of media-related accusations, The Daily Derenberger and The Whitman Works shook hands.” Meanwhile, the Whitman Works left they had the liberty to say “After a feud in which Whitman Works demolished Daily Derenberger…” This isn’t a good way to end a feud. In fact, the only thing this comment would do is start one, and in this case, it only increased the tension between our sites.
The Whitman Works then spoke of a video, which is posted on our Instagram. They claim that the video was staged and that the candidates involved were “most likely forced under the threat of scandalous articles.” However, we spoke with the candidates involved in the post, Ulysses Kipper and Tex Rexman. Ulysses Kipper said little on the matter, simply stating “What I said about the Whitman Works was born out of a solid educated opinion and encouragement for good media, it was not forced.” Rexman had similar things to say, telling “Just as usual, the Whitman Works slanted the truth to further their narrative. They like slanting the truth as much as I love America, and that’s a lot. Nothing I said was fake, it was all 100% my opinion.”
Let us make it clear that it is not our goal to shame The Whitman Works. In fact, we hope that by shedding light on this topic, we will be able to eliminate the tension as a whole. It should be the goal of a news source to supply its viewers with reliable and constant news, not to give them a first hand view into our own personal problems. That is inappropriate. That is unacceptable. We will not continue to support this pointless banter and instead, focus only harder on our viewers, getting out coverage at an even higher rate than before. It is not our goal to wage war, but to simply fill the people in on the war between the candidates. Therefore, let our feud be ended. Let us return to our obligation to our audience. It is time to focus on the people, and the people alone.
